3 Elective units
All electives are based on the work that you carry out to ensure training is suitable to your workplace.


How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

 

To be eligible for this program you must be working in the industry and have access to a live work site. Some RTO's may stipulate a minimum number of years of relevant experience.

It is also recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.

You will also need to undertake a Pre-Training Review.

To be eligible for government funding learners must be Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents or hold a prescribed protection Visa (other eligibility criteria may apply).

 

This course is delivered on site in a flexible way that fits in with your work. After consulting with you, your trainer will visit you at your worksite. Cooperation and communication with your trainer will help the training and assessment process. Some Registered Training Organisations may require theory assessments to be undertaken online in your own time.

The delivery is designed to fit in with a modern working environment. If there are areas of wall and floor tiling work you have not undertaken, you may be required to attend workshops designed to work around your work schedule.

Students can commence this certificate at any time of the year, as long as you meet the entry requirements.

 

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in the construction industry as a tiler, the qualification may be used additionally to a trade you may already hold, or as a standalone qualification.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in general construction such as planning and organising work, measurements and calculations, how to work safely in the industry as specialised tiling skills such as use of common tools and equipment as well as general skills in repair of waterproofing.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the CPC31320 – Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course will lead to higher level studies, including the Certificate IV in Building and Construction and the Diploma in Building and Construction, which can assist with becoming a registered builder.
